What is aeration?

Water

Aeration is an intense supply of oxygen to wastewater basins in biological wastewater treatment plants with the intention of enriching water with oxygen to facilitate water treatment. It is also used in surface water tanks or reservoirs to prevent the formation of algae and pathological micro-organisms. Aeration takes place below the waterline, thus preventing aerosol formation. The innovative floating design ensures fast and easy use and significantly reduces installation and maintenance costs.

The aeration method can also be used in urban ditches, ponds, canals and other surface water tanks to address or prevent eutrophication (increased growth and deaths of plants caused by increased chemical nutrients in the ecosystem), thus minimising algal blooms. This method can also be used to prevent oxygen levels in water below 5 mg O2/l, which would endanger the aquatic life cycle.

Floating air blowers work on the surface of the water, introducing air below the surface of the water, so there is no need for an expensive and complicated system of collectors and injectors inside the tank. This simplifies installation and significantly reduces the total project investment of the system. Aeration of wastewater and surface water is essential in the wastewater treatment process. In wastewater, aeration activates biological processes in the water to promote water oxidation and thus self-purification through the introduction of active oxygen.

The aerator itself is a rapidly deployable floating aeration and mixing unit in one, its operations and maintenance are very simple. This is a cost-effective aeration solution for the modernisation of wastewater installations. It is possible to equip the aerator with a frequency converter and operate it in conjunction with the online oxygen measurement system, which can achieve the highest efficiency and result at the lowest operating costs.
